Oreo Dirt Cake – No Hassle Prep!

Cake Base. Bake the cake according to the instructions on the box. Use a 9×13 baking pan. Once the cake is finished baking, let it cool off for about 10 minutes.

Fudge Layer. While the cake is still warm, you’re going to want to poke holes across the top of it using the back of a wooden spoon. Don’t go all the way through though, about halfway is plenty.

Microwave the hot fudge sauce so that it pours easily. Usually you can get the right consistency after popping it in the microwave for about 30-60 seconds.

Once it’s warm enough, go ahead and drizzle it over the holes you made, ensuring that it gets down in there nicely. When you’re done, let the cake cool off completely.

First Pudding Layer. In a medium-sized bowl, dump out one box of the instant dark chocolate pudding mix and whisk it with the cold milk. After it’s mixed but before it sets, spread it over the top of the cooled cake. Pop it in the fridge for about 20 minutes.

Oreo Crunch. Take the cake out of the refrigerator and sprinkle about 2/3 of the crushed Oreos evenly over the pudding layer.

Second Pudding Layer. In another bowl, mix the remaining box of dark chocolate pudding with the rest of the cold milk. Once it starts to thicken, gently fold in the whipped topping. Spread the combined mix over the Oreo layer.

Garnish. Sprinkle the remaining crushed Oreos on top. If you’re using the dark chocolate candy bar, scatter the chopped pieces over the dessert.

Chill & Serve. Refrigerate the dessert for at least 4 hours. Ideally you should leave it in there overnight to allow all the yummy flavors to completely combine. Slice, serve, and watch it disappear!

Let's dive into the delectable details of this indulgent creation. The Oreo Dirt Cake is a symphony of flavors and textures, meticulously designed to satisfy the cravings of any chocoholic. The foundation of this dessert is a dark chocolate cake mix, providing a delectable base that's both rich and satisfying. But we don't stop there; we elevate the experience with a series of carefully chosen ingredients.

Firstly, Oreos – the iconic cookies that add a signature crunch and familiar taste to the Oreo Dirt Cake. These beloved treats are not just a topping; they're an integral part of the dessert experience. As any true enthusiast knows, an Oreo Dirt Cake without Oreos is simply unimaginable.

Next in line is the ooey, gooey goodness of hot fudge sauce. This magical addition enriches the cake, making it decadent and moist. We're not just creating a dessert; we're crafting an experience that goes beyond the ordinary.

To enhance the chocolatey goodness, we introduce instant dark chocolate pudding mix. This not only adds a creamy texture but also infuses an irresistible deep chocolate flavor. And what's the secret to achieving the perfect pudding consistency? Cold milk – an essential ingredient in our quest for dessert perfection.

Now, let's talk about the pièce de résistance – the airy whipped cream layer. This element provides a delightful contrast to the rich chocolate layers, creating a symphony of textures that will leave your taste buds dancing with joy.

For those who crave a touch of luxury, we offer the option of a dark chocolate candy bar garnish. When chopped and scattered over the dessert, it adds a decadent finishing touch, elevating the Oreo Dirt Cake to a whole new level of sophistication.

But how does one bring this culinary masterpiece to life? Fear not, for I present to you the step-by-step guide to Oreo Dirt Cake perfection:

  1. Cake Base: Bake the dark chocolate cake according to the instructions in a 9×13 pan. Let it cool for 10 minutes.
  2. Fudge Layer: Poke holes in the warm cake and drizzle microwaved hot fudge sauce into the holes. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  3. First Pudding Layer: Whisk one box of instant dark chocolate pudding mix with cold milk. Spread it over the cooled cake and chill for 20 minutes.
