During World War II he was arrested as a member of the underground and after his release, he worked to resettle refugees. He was a member of St Brendan Catholic Church of Clearwater Beach, an officer in the American Institute of Polish Culture, Pinellas Park, and a member of Polish Institute of Arts Sciences of America.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Helena, Cranford, two sons, Richard, Piscataway, and Adam, Ramsey, a sister, Iza Helinska of Poland; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of West Park Chri tian Church, Indianapolis, and locally was a member and publications officer of Coast Guard Auxiliary District 11. He came here in 1974 from his native Staten Island, N.Y. He retired as a dock foreman after 20 years with the Sanitation Department and he also owned and operated Modern Home Improvements. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Light of Christ Catholic Church and On Top of the World Golf Association, both of Clearwater, and was a former member of the Moose.
